2016 Brewer's Advent Calendar at Costco

Fall is here, and that means Winter and Christmas beers are quickly descending. It also means Costco is loading up on all things yuletide. As I was perusing the aisles at my local Costco the other day, I found a beer advent calendar. The Brewer's Advent Calendar features 24 cans of 16.9 oz. imported German beersone for each day from December 1 - 24. The calendar features a broad range of German styles and is priced at $59.99, which equates to $2.50 a beer. That seems like a decent price to me.

I didn't buy it, but if anyone does, please let me know what you think of it.

  2. I bought this for my German husband who is always looking for new beers to try! I cannot wait to give it to him on Dec. 1st. He's going to love this!

  3. Only sneaking cheats would be able to give you a review of this product prior to December 1. Anybody who knows Santa's watching will not open the presents early.

Maybe in the interest of Science, one person will break the rules and have time to drink 24 beers prior to the date Costco sells out of the product. And have still more time to post a review??

Maybe I can buy one for October, and one for December... but Costco does not sell beer in my state, so tack on some travel time?

    Cheers, in advance.

  6. Bought one today in Canada. It cost twice as much. Altho' at the current exchange rate, it's the equivalent of $100 US dollars. Enjoying my first beer this evening on December 1, a red Alpkonig from Memminger Brewery in in southern Bavaria. Very nice - a midling bitterness. A little sweet. Nice finish. Looking forward to 23 more! They have a facebook page (of course) https://www.facebook.com/beeradventcalendar/?fref=ts&ref=br_tf

  7. Dear Costco, PLEASE STOP putting one year old beer in this product. Surely you can give us beer that is a bit fresher??? The cans all say the beer was produced in Jan. 2016 and it's now Dec. 2016. Most of this beer is good and I love the German advent beer concept, but a few of these brews taste a little old. Well yeah, one year can be an issue for some beers. PLEASE fix this for next year. I would appreciate a reply from Costco.

    1. Update: The dates on the can are euro dates, so 1-7-2016 is July, not Jan. Good news!!!

  8. I bought this for my husband and he is enjoying it so far. However, both of us wish they did not include doubles of five beers. The beers for the 4th and 5th days are the same. Kind of repetitive. Also, it'd be nice to see more dark and winter ales rather than so many light and refreshing beers.

  10. Doubles are one thing and I'm shocked to see someone else has seen the same thing. So far, #1 and #3 have been the same, then #4 and #5 the same and guess what... #6 and #7 are the same. Well at least that's what has happened on my draw so far. I would rather have had them do 1 through 18 and then simply do 1 through 5 again. Last year had no duplicates and it was really fun to have a different beer each day. Well, I know which beer I'm having tomorrow, the same one I'm drinking right now.

  11. It's day 9 and my advent calenbeer puts a smile on my face every day. the beer is excellent from very old-small brewers of Barvaria/Germany. If you see it - buy it.

  12. Do you drink the beers at room temperature or open it in the am and plop them in the fridge one at a time so they are cold by dinner?
