There's nothing like coming home from work on Friday afternoon and being greeted by a box of beer on your doorstep! I received such a treat today from Full Sail Brewing Co. Carefully packed in the box were bottles of some of the brewery's current releases:
8 Pound Pale Ale: Full Sail has been brewing fresh hop beers for years, but 8 Pound Pale Ale is their first packaged in the 12 oz. bottle format. Fresh (also known as wet) hops are added to the boil within hours of being picked at the hop farm. Since fresh hops are not kiln dried, they must quickly be used before they spoil. According to Full Sail, the Magnum hops showcased in this beer impart notes of anise and flavors of lemon and spice. Click here for more details about 8 Pound Pale Ale.
Session Premium Northwest Pilsner: Full Sail's Session line keeps growing! Inspired by classic Czech pilsners, this beer's use of citrusy Cascade and Crystal hops add some Northwest flair. At 4.0% ABV and 34 IBUs, you'll be able to enjoy a few.
Full Sail Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Stouts: An old favorite returns for its annual release. This year's edition was brewed in November 2015, and then aged in Wild Turkey bourbon casks from Kentucky. The barrels add flavors of vanilla, oak, and of course—bourbon. At 9.5% ABV and 40 IBUs, it will age gracefully for years, if you have the patience. I think I have a bottle of the 2014 release stashed away. I should dig it up and see how it's coming along!
These releases span quite a range of styles, and should serve as a nice accompaniment to fall. Look for them at a beer store near you. Thanks to Full Sail for an awesome start to my weekend!
