Description:"Squeeze those hops for all they’re worth and prepare to

collection of Nugget, Warrior and Tomahawk hops. Starting with the same base
ingredients of our flagship HopBack Amber Ale, Nugget Nectar intensifies the
malt and hop flavors to create an explosive hop experience." — Tröegs Brewing Co. Random thoughts: This is the first Tröeg's beer I've sampled, and another beer I've heard great things about. I bought this at Whole Foods during a trip to Ohio. This seasonal is available during February and March. Tröegs is located in Hershey, PA. Might be a good place to visit—chocolate for the kids and beer for the parents!
The tasting:Golden orange in color, crystal-clear, with an off white head that dissipates slowly. Aroma is full of hop flavors—grapefruit, pine, and loads of tropical fruit (mango, pineapple, guava). A slight bit of alcohol appears in the nose as the beer warms. Flavor starts with a strong dose of grapefruit bitterness. In the middle, a solid caramel and bready malt backbone emerges. The tropical flavors from the aroma don't find their way into the taste. Bitterness is prominent overall, but is not as strong as implied by its 93-ish IBUs. Alcohol is well masked. Nugget Nectar is light to medium bodied, moderately carbonated, and has a creamy mouth feel. It finishes with lingering grapefruit hop bitterness and a touch of sweet caramel.
Rating: 4 star. Really Good! I want this again! Nugget Nectar may be classified as an Imperial Amber, but it reminds me of a West Coast IPA. It has a wonderful aroma. I just wish the juicy tropical fruit flavors made their way into the taste. Overall, the taste is fairly simple, but it's a very nice beer. If you like hoppy beer and live where Tröegs is distributed, be sure to pick it up before the end of March.
