Extreme Pizza's Excellent Draft Selection

I like pizza with usual ingredients and combinations.  A few weekends ago, we headed to our local Extreme Pizza, which specializes in gourmet pizzas.  We ordered an extra-large pie, half Peace in the Middle East (hummus, tomatoes, black olives, caramelized onions, feta, fresh basil, pepperoncini, and mozzarella) and half Ragin' Rooster (chicken marinated in sweet BBQ sauce, red onions, cilantro, cheddar, and mozzarella).

While I fully enjoyed both combinations, I was even more impressed with their selection of draft beer.  Six of eight taps were dedicated to craft beer!  Here are craft brews they had on draft when I visited:

The industrials were represented by Rolling Rock and Bud Light (both owned by Anheuser Busch).  For some reason, unbeknownst to me, the picture of the Bud Light tap was cut from the picture.  Sorry.

While Extreme's beer selection does not rival that of a beer bar, their 75% craft beer taps are good enough to bring me back on a regular basis.  So which of these beers did I have with my pizza?  None.  I had plenty the previous day at the North American Organic Brewers Festival.

What are your favorite pizza joints and what beer do they serve?

  1. But what is it about pizza that makes it perfect for beer? For me, I think it's the combination of soft chewy crust, the smell and taste of herbs and spices, and the thick sauce, the overload of cheese, and of course my favorite choice of toppings, which is pepperoni. The mere idea of all those goodness combined in one hearty dish is enough for pizza to be considered the best partner of any drink, for that matter.
